Halloween in Northern Colorado means ghouls and zombies and haunted stories from Fort Collins Tours. But it’s not all bone-chilling frights this October! In Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor and Greeley, our communities come together to celebrate the kid-friendly fun that Halloween brings as well—from pumpkin carving to pet costume contests.
To help you find the family-friendly events in NoCo this month, we rounded up everything from trick-or-treat soirees and candy-free enchantments to fun runs and dog-friendly celebrations. Happy Halloween!
Pumpkin Carving Workshop | Windsor

The Town of Windsor is hosting a pumpkin carving workshop before Halloween so your family’s jack-o-lanterns can be the best on the block. Professional jack-o-lantern artist John Bardeen of Grampa Bardeen’s Family Pumpkin Carving Kits will walk participants step by step through his carving techniques, and everyone will leave with a freshly carved jack-o-lantern to take home as well as a free set of professional carving tools. Harvest Night Family Fun Run | Loveland

The first Harvest Night Fun Run was run in October 1998 and it’s coming back in 2018 thanks to Sweetheart City Racing. The fun includes games, Northern Colorado food trucks, live music and, of course, the two-mile fun run which takes off at 3 p.m.
Howl-O-Ween Trick or Treat | Greeley

Greeley’s Centennial Village Museum transforms into a family-friendly Halloween festival during this fun-filled weekend. For just a $2 children’s ticket and a $3 adult ticket you can play carnival games, trick-or-treat at various structures around the eight-acre facility and participate in the costume contest. Get those scary and silly costumes ready early and head down to the museum!
Loveland Zombie Crawl | Loveland

The 6th Annual Loveland Zombie Crawl will take over Downtown Loveland the evening of October 20th. Headquartered on the back patio of Loveland Aleworks, you’ll find zombie dogs, decorations and treats for all. Gather all your friends and get dressed up in your finest zombie attire because this Halloween event is free!
Treatsylvania | Fort Collins

The Farm’s annual Halloween event returns for Halloween 2018! Come for trick-or-treating, a “not-so-spooky” barn, hayrides and treats for all, then stay to explore the make-believe Halloween village with 40 storefronts sponsored by local businesses. More than 8,000 children and adults walk through this make-believe village each year!
Pumpkin Plunge | Windsor

Taking place in the pool at Windsor CRC, the Pumpkin Plunge invites kids and parents to jump in, swim through the water and find the perfect pumpkin. After you choose yours, you can decorate it while enjoying music and a festive movie. To save your spot, register with the Town of Windsor by October 19th for just $6. This dog-friendly, Halloween-themed race is hosted by Animal House Rescue & Grooming and benefits Northern Colorado’s homeless pets. The 2018 event features all the fun of last year’s venue, the same four-mile course, and the post-race hot breakfast and beer from The Biergarten at Anheuser Busch. Come for the run, bring your family and your dog, then stay for the live music and local vendor booths!
Halloween Family Fun Festival | Loveland

Directly across from the Loveland Museum/Gallery in Peters Park, this free event is bringing food, fun and trick-or-treating to Downtown Loveland from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. You can enjoy live entertainment before the costume contest but be sure to register your costume before 12:15 p.m. on the day of the event. First, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded in several age categories including infant, teen, adult and family themes!
Halloween Enchanted Garden | Fort Collins

Join The Gardens on Spring Creek for a candy-free celebration this Halloween. For just one day, the gardens will be turned into an Enchanted Garden complete with games and Halloween activities. Suitable for children ages 2 – 8-years-old, this event is guaranteed to be fun-filled, never scary, and admission costs just $5. Make sure everyone has their costumes on and celebrate Halloween with the whole family!
Bow Wowvania | Fort Collins

From 12 – 1 p.m. on October 27th, dogs and their families are invited to dress up and come down to The Farm for a dog-friendly Halloween event. You’ll all get to trick-or-treat, take photos and go home with a dog approved treat bag. Humans are free; tickets are just $5 per dog and you can buy yours at The Farm or at the Northside Aztlan Community Center.
Halloween Party | Fort Collins

This free Halloween party will fill Bath Garden Center with decorated pumpkins, carving demonstrations and crafts from 12 – 2 p.m. on October 27th. Fun includes a kids costume competition and a pet costume contest. So bring your dogs, your costumes and your crafty kids, then stay for live pumpkin carving, free crafts and treats, characters from Wishes Come True Entertainment, lunch available from local food truck Dank Dogs, and more.
Haunted Village Trick-or-Treat | Windsor

Taking place during Windsor’s downtown trick-or-treating, the Boardwalk Park Museum will be hosting a free, spooky haunted village with free candy for all. Trick or Treat Street | Greeley

On October 27th, Downtown Greeley will be closed to traffic for the annual Trick or Treat Street. Candy and specials will be provided by stores in the heart of downtown as well as pumpkin cornhole games, candy corn bowling and pumpkin decorating for the more than 150 kids and parents who show up.
Cosmic Costume Skate | Greeley

The Cosmic Costume Skate will turn Greeley Ice Haus into a spooky, costumed ball. Admission is just $5 or $2 for children five years and younger, and if you wear your costume, your skate rental is free! Make sure it’s a good one because the costume contest runs from 7:45 – 8 p.m.

On Halloween day, get to Old Town Square early for this free annual trick or treating event! Starting in the square, participants will get a goodie bag and a map of the participating stores and locations where you can collect treats (and tricks). Crossing guards will be at every intersection, ensuring safety for everyone — and maximum trick-or-treating time is from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
