Cinco de Mayo is coming up fast, but Margarita Monday means you can celebrate Mexican culture and tequila cocktails all year long — and we’re certainly not complaining! It’d be a shame to celebrate just once a year since our favorite Fort Collins restaurants craft some of the most delicious margaritas in the region.

From classic lime mixes to Coronitas served with a beer float and even a Celery Marg — there are enough flavor combinations and delicious recipes in town for you to try a new margarita each week for the whole summer! So take a tour of FoCo via its Mexican cocktails, drink safely and let us know which margarita is your favorite.

Rio Grande

It’s no secret; the Rio makes nearly every margarita round-up in Fort Collins. And with seven locations throughout the state, now everyone knows it! But the original marg hot spot was born in 1986 right here in FoCo and it’s been a go-to spot for Mexican food and fiestas ever since.

Their three margarita limit means you have limited opportunities, so you’re going to want to taste carefully! Start with The Classic Rio Marg, then move on to the Fresh Jalapeño Marg served with fresh muddled jalapeño or the Ricky topped with a coronita.

Blue Agave Grill has one of the largest tequila selections in town and they also have one of the best patios. Mix in some lime juice and Cointreau and we’re ready for a margarita by the fire while the sun goes down! Kick your cocktail up a notch with one of their house-infused tequilas for extra flavor.

Los Tarascos

Los Tarascos already serves some of the highest quality and best-tasting margaritas in town — and they offer them with daily specials all week long! For happy hour, you can get the famous Gold House Margaritas for just $4.35. If you come back on Wednesday for a pitcher, you’ll also get a free appetizer! Check out all their specials and learn more about their flavors and styles online.

There’s nothing that pairs better with a delicious margarita than traditional, authentic Michoacan cuisine made from scratch. And at La Buena Vida, you can get a marg in three tropical flavors, four fruit flavors, or four New Generations flavors — including Celery, Cucumber and Jalapaño! There’s a two drink limit though, so choose carefully.

Fort Collins’ La Luz means tacos and tequila. Stop by any day for the best of both and throw in a little lime juice, Cointreau or even fresh strawberry puree for one of the best margaritas in town. They have eight flavor options including the Whiskey Marg with whiskey, fresh squeezed marg mix and a float of Grand Marnier.

Cafe Mexicali

Cafe Mexicali has locations in Fort Collins, Greeley and Boulder so you can get a taste of their mouth-watering Mexican food and margaritas all along the front range! The original was opened right here in FoCo in 2005 and has been a local favorite ever since. They strive to make every ingredient stand deliciously on its own so the full plates are something you’ll want again and again. We recommend a summery raspberry marg on your first visit!

Zquila

The Zquila team began serving their scratch Mexican food and delicious margaritas when El Charro Mexican Restaurant opened in Greeley in 1970. In 2008, they brought award-winning Green Chili and the secret ‘Perfect’ Margarita recipe to Fort Collins. And the rest, as they say, is history! Stop by for a taste of authenticity.

Illegal Pete’s

Rooftop patios, two bars, all-natural ingredients and flavor-packed margaritas add up to one of the best summer atmospheres in town. For $4 at happy hour, you can get a freshly made, balanced blend of tequila, orange liqueur and lime on the rocks — ideal for Fort Collins sunsets.

Craft Tacos and Tequila

Craft’s Fort Collins location puts a fresh, seasonal spin on Mexican classics. With Colorado-sourced ingredients, chef-inspired tacos and a refreshing margarita, you can celebrate any day!

Inca Mexican Restaurant

The family recipes at Inca traveled here straight from the Mexican state of Jalisco. The authenticity comes from generations of experience, fresh ingredients, meals made from scratch — and the margaritas are the perfect complement! You can choose from eight different options, featuring a signature mix, coronita, Amaretto Di Saronno and more.

Enjoy!

If we missed your favorite margarita in Fort Collins, let us know. We can always use more reasons to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (and Margarita Monday)! No matter where you choose to celebrate, remember to stay safe.
