Severance has exploded with new construction in this century, but still retains plenty of its heritage, including Bruce's Bar, which is world-famous for its Rocky Mountain Oysters. Founded in the late 19th century as an agricultural community, the town remained primarily a rural farming community based on the raising of cattle, sugar beets, potatoes, and onions throughout the last century.
