Ault's name provides a fitting acronym for "A Unique Little Town." Located along U.S. Highway 85 as it intersects with Colorado Highway 14, Ault residents enjoy an inspirational vantage point to view the Front Range of the Rockies. The town also sits near the edge of the vast short-grass prairie lands of eastern Colorado and is knows as the Gateway to Pawnee Buttes. Highland High School in Ault is named for the town's position on the high plains.

Ault is small enough to provide a friendly, country feel with beauty in the tree-lined streets and well-maintained parks. It features multiple antique stores and restaurants and boasts a senior center, library, dental office, chiropractic office, veterinary clinic, insurance offices, small shops, auto shops, beauty shops and a bank. It’s a great place to visit, raise a family or to spend your retirement years.

The town celebrates two annual community events, the Fall Festival in August and the International Food Fest in October, which features the ethnic roots of the local residents. About 30% of the residents have German ancestors, 11% are Irish with English, Swedish, Norwegian and Mexican immigrants also contributing to the fabric of the community.
