Movies on Mason: Bike-In Movie Night

Do you own a bicycle, love movies and enjoy free beer? If so, we have a special event for you! The first ever “Movies on Mason” outdoor cinema night is being held this Saturday, July 11th. Commemorating its 30th year anniversary, the featured film will be “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.”

“One night the FoCo Under-40 meet-up group, Life of the Party, and Recycled Cycles employees were hanging out at our bar when someone mentioned that it was about to be the 30th anniversary of “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure”,” explained 1933 Brewing Company Marketing Coordinator, Laura Sickles. “We thought, how fun would it be to show the film at a bike-in cinema night?”

In this movie, eccentric Pee-Wee Herman has his beloved bike stolen in broad daylight and sets out across the country on the adventure of his life, truly demonstrating the timeless nature and history of the bicycle.

Although biking has made quite a comeback in recent years, many individuals still rely heavily on cars for transportation. As awareness of the harmful gases and negative affects car-travel places on the environment grows, consumers have begun switching to more energy efficient means of travel.

According to data from The League of American Bicyclists, “From 2000 to 2013, bicycle commuting rates in large BFCs increased 105% — far above the national average of 62% and more than double the rate in non-BFCs (31%).”

Bike Fort Collins

We’re proud to say the Fort Collins community is leading the pack! Fort Collins was named a Platinum Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) in 2013. At the time, there were one of four communities given this designation, demonstrating that Fort Collins was at the forefront of the bicycle movement.

“Fort Collins is very big on both biking and beer, they are truly a part of our culture,” added Sickles.

Take part in this wonderful opportunity to show off your biking sustainability while engaging with your local south Fort Collins community! Other activities available at “Movies on Mason” will include raffle prizes and food for sale from Fenney’s Weenies food truck, serving Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches.
