Situated at the south end of Fairgrounds Park, there’s a completely fenced-in dog park with plenty of space for your dog to run and play. The park has a water fountain and waste bag dispensers for your convenience. And if you have a small or shy dog, there’s even a separate area for them to play!
At the central-south end of Mehaffey Park, you’ll find a fenced-in, off-leash dog park, including two separate areas, one for all dogs and another for shy/small dogs. The landscape is comprised of dirt/gravel and mulch, with a few rock benches for humans to sit on.
As part of the Round Mountain National Recreation Trail, the Summit Adventure Trail is a 4.5-mile (one way) moderate hike to the summit of Sheep Mountain. And the best part is: you can bring your dog with you! If you do, consider shortening the hike, as it can take about 6-8 hours to complete at a normal pace. The hike begins where there is a split in the main trail just beyond the parking lot. While this trail is a bit lengthier and steeper than the rest on this list, the views at the top are certainly worth the climb!
Boyd Lake State Park’s multi-use trail is open to bikes, walkers and leashed dogs alike! This easygoing paved and grassy trail connects to the city’s 22-mile Recreation Trail System and passes by beaches, under cottonwood trees and runs right by the water’s edge. Learn more about the trail and other things you can do at this massive park using our guide to Boyd Lake State Park!
