In an outdoorsy state like Colorado, camping is all the rage. After all, setting up a tent amidst a secluded natural setting is perhaps the best way to experience the great outdoors. But for those of us who are less interested in the rustic byproducts of camping, you might want to consider “glamping” instead. A portmanteau of “glamorous” and “camping,” glamping offers a chance to stay in the wilderness — without those pesky bugs and the hassle of pitching a tent.
Book your stay at one of these glamping destinations in Northern Colorado, from Estes Park to Greeley. Options include yurts, canvas tents, treehouses and more unique accommodations, most of which are equipped with luxurious bedding, WiFi, and (nearly) all the comforts of home.

Just southwest of Rocky Mountain National Park in Granby, Arapaho Valley Ranch is a 200-acre, family owned, guest ranch with a variety of glamping options, including canvas tents and tipis. Each glamping tent features a wooden deck, a firepit, a queen bed with bedding, a camp kitchen, and the option for two additional cots with bedding. And the 20-foot tipis feature a wooden deck, a camp kitchen, a queen-size log bed and a cot. Both accommodations are within walking distance of bathrooms!
COVID NOTE: At this time, Arapaho Valley Ranch is only accepting guests who have pre-reserved camping, glamping or cabins for the summer. You must book in advance. They are doing a drive-up check-in system from 1–8 p.m. Additionally, the lodge, store and bar are closed until further notice. Grand Lake Lodge | Grand Lake
Experience the best of both Rocky Mountain National Park and the charming town of Grand Lake at Grand Lake Lodge, a classic mountain lodge with 70 newly renovated cabins available between May and October. All Grand Lake guests enjoy access to the lodge’s amenities, including a swimming pool, an on-site restaurant, sports courts, a playground, a picnic area, and a hot tub. The Spruce Half Cabin is an especially affordable option for two — and you can even bring your dog, too!
COVID NOTE: Grand Lake Lodge is going to great lengths to protect your safety while providing a phenomenal experience during your stay. They are offering electronic and curbside check-in services and have instituted a PPE policy among their staff, who are screened at the beginning and end of every shift. They are using sterilizing wands to deep-clean rooms between visits. Plus, their food and beverage services include knock-and-drop breakfasts, take-out lunches and dinners, and other adjustments. The pool is open with a timed reservations system where hotel guests can reserve 1.5 hour time slots. Grand Lake Lodge is limiting capacity to 25 people per slot for the safety of its guests. Platte River Fort Yurts + Covered Wagon | Greeley
Nestled along the South Platte River in Greeley, Platte River Fort is a resort and event center with a rustic side as well. Their Lotus Belle glamping yurts and covered wagon offer a true glamping experience, providing a comfortable retreat after you spend the day hiking, fishing, or swimming on the 235-acre property. The 20-foot-wide yurts sleep between two and four guests, and feature a variety of amenities, including outdoor seating, a chaise, reading chairs, a wine opener, beach towels, river tubes, magazines, lanterns and a lighter. The unforgettable Conestoga Wagon sleeps up to four guests in a king-sized bed and a twin-sized bunk bed. And believe it or not, the wagon even has enough space for a cozy sitting area with two padded chairs!
COVID NOTE: Platte River Fort has implemented new cleaning procedures and protocols for all of their facilities and with their employees. They are also actively educating employees, visitors and customers on the preventative measures provided by the CDC. After an eight-week closure on March 18, Hanks Bar and Grill is now open!
Hermit Park + Horsetooth Reservoir Cabins | Estes Park + Fort Collins
Larimer County Parks & Recreation offers a variety of glamping options at both Hermit Park Open Space and Horsetooth Reservoir. Choose from 13 semi-secluded cabins in the woods just southeast of Estes Park at Hermit Park Open Space, which feature a two-burner propane cook stove, padded bed surfaces (without bedding), picnic tables, fire pits, and more. The seven cabins located at the water’s edge in South Bay Campground at Horsetooth Reservoir feature a covered porch, three padded bed surfaces (without bedding), electricity, a table with four chairs, heat and air, and more. Make your reservations for either glamping option months in advance, as these cabins are typically in high demand!
