Get To Know Our Groupies + The Neighborhoods They Love: April 2018

At The Group, Inc., our business is built on relationships. Whether it’s between us and our agents or our agents and you, we place the highest value on trust. Since we started, our agents have been our partners and, as NoCo locals, real estate experts and owners of the company, they’re the cornerstone of our brokerage.

To honor these outstanding Groupies, we’re introducing a handful here on NoCo Speaks — and they were also featured in our latest edition of The Source! Available on both newsstands and online, this unique publication covers all our local listings, upcoming events and developments as well as local, neighborhood highlights.

Now, while she’s not working, she can be found with her husband, her three kids and her rescue boxer Rosie in places like Horsetooth Reservoir taking advantage of the camping, and hiking, skiing or paddle boarding right in our backyard!

Of all the amazing places in Fort Collins, her favorite is Old Town thanks to the history, the charm, the big trees, wide streets and variety of architecture. On relaxed summer afternoons, you can find her riding a cruiser bike to local breweries in and around the neighborhood which include Equinox Brewing, New Belgium Brewing and Coopersmith’s Pub & Brewing.

That passion is one of the reasons she loves the Mariana Butte area of Loveland. The mountain views, the rolling topography and the proximity to the golf course make it a gorgeous and fun place to live.

The neighborhood park also connects to the Power Trail which can take you all the way to CB & Potts at Collindale Golf Course, one of Deanna’s recommended dinner spots!

Denise Staab

Looking forward, her bucket list consists of road biking, canyoneering, traveling to other countries and swimming with sharks!

Outside of the charm of Old Town Fort Collins, her favorite neighborhoods in NoCo are Terry Lake, Lindenmeier Lake and Sheeley thanks to their historic, sprawling ranches and their proximity to the lakes. These neighborhoods are the perfect places to get outdoors and practice her favorite hobbies!

Jeffrey Martin

Jeffrey Martin The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

Jeffrey grew up in Florida but spent his summers swimming in the Thompson River while visiting family. In 2003, he realized his lifelong dream and moved to Northern Colorado and celebrates that success by enjoying the bounties our community offers, from local restaurants to regional nonprofits and everything in between.

Because it’s the neighborhood he calls home, Jeffrey is partial to Warren Lake and all the amenities of south Fort Collins. He particularly loves the family-friendly and dog-friendly nature of the area. Keep an eye out next time you’re out walking your pup because he carries dog treats!

Jessica Tate

Jessica Tate The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

Jessica was born and raised in Fort Collins. After living in Denver after high school, she moved back to Fort Collins so her daughter could have the same FoCo upbringing that has meant so much to Jessica. Now back in her old stomping grounds, you can often find her exploring new brewhouses, enjoying a nice afternoon on a patio with friends and hiking, biking and walking the trails with her husband and daughter.

One of her favorite places to do that is Prospect Estates which offers large lots, huge trees, quiet streets and it’s all just five minutes from the attractions and fun of Old Town Fort Collins!

Jim Hauan

Jim Hauan The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

Jim grew up in Fort Collins, attended Poudre High School, went on to obtain Finance Real Estate degree from CSU and met his wife, Tricia, in Steamboat Springs. Now, they have two boys, Trey and Jace, and they love taking advantage of the outdoor and athletic opportunities right here in NoCo. Jim has been in real estate since 1999 and his varied experiences here in Fort Collins make him a great person to ask about local attractions!

Over the years, he’s come to love the location and the amenities of Lindenwood in northeast Fort Collins. Centered around Lindenmeier Lake, it’s just minutes from New Belgium Brewing, Ginger and Baker and Old Town Fort Collins.

Kathy Arents

Kathy Arents The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

Kathy is a native of Michigan but has lived, loved and called Colorado home for almost 35 years. After 28 years in real estate, she considers her biggest wins to be the looks on the faces of every first-time home buyer right before closing. She loves being a part of their excitement and success!

On the topic of her favorite neighborhood, Kathy said, “There are so many great neighborhoods in Northern Colorado but, like a lot of folks who call Fort Collins home, one of the places I love to spend time is in Old Town. It’s an easy sell when clients visit from out of state!”

Kelly McBartlett

Kelly McBartlett The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

As a Denver-born, Colorado native, Kelly says, “My fiancé, Blake, and I love Fort Collins. Along with our Greyhound pup, Lexington, we spend as much time as we can outside on patios with friends and family.” When they’re not working, you can find all three hiking up Horsetooth Rock or Arthur’s Rock, driving up the Poudre Canyon or making a quick trip to the Twin Silo’s dog park.

Of all the neighborhoods in NoCo, Kelly’s favorites are located off the beaten path, like Parkwood, Fairway Estates, Coeur d’Alene Estates and Belmont Farms. The homes in these areas boast impressive architecture and an unassuming nature, so they stand out from the crowd!

Mary Ann Michels

Mary Ann Michels The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

After earning her degree in Textiles and Clothing Design from Iowa State University, Mary Ann moved to Fort Collins in 1988 to run the western region of Northwest Fabrics. Later, in 2008, she found her muse as a Realtor and never looked back! Now, her and her husband are empty nesters with two grown children and plenty of time to explore their favorite neighborhoods in Fort Collins.

At the top of that list, you’ll find Old Town, thanks to its diversity in architecture, beautiful landscaping and the safe, pedestrian-friendly atmosphere!

Miki Roth

Miki Roth The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

Born and raised in Loveland, Miki has loved seeing this small town emerge into a thriving community — from the old, beloved neighborhoods and out to the growing suburban areas. She’s been a Realtor here for over 20 years and her favorite thing about the job is helping people find the exact home they want and need.

Since childhood, her favorite Loveland neighborhood has been downtown thanks to all the attractions and local businesses it offers. A list of her favorites include the Foote Lagoon, the library, the recreation center, Door 222 Food & Drink, Henry’s Pub and Mo’ Betta Gumbo.

Tami Spaulding

Tami Spaulding The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

Tami grew up in Northern Colorado on Harleys and horses. Now, her and her husband live on a ranch east of Fort Collins with their horses, dogs and cats. Since 1987, she’s been working in real estate and she has loved every minute of it. “Helping others realize their real estate dreams has been a blessing,” she said.

Because of her childhood and her passion for horses, Tami considers herself more of a country girl than a neighborhood girl. As such, her favorite areas are Rist Canyon, Stove Prairie and Bellvue thanks to their trees, open land, rolling hills and privacy.

Tim Ash

Tim Ash The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

Tim and his wife were both raised in Colorado and raised their children here! As both a Lambkin and an Aggie, Tim earned his degree in Electrical Engineering and followed it up with a Master’s Degree in the same field. After 25 years working in tech and many years spent at Advanced Energy in Fort Collins, he launched a new career in real estate four years ago! When he’s not working, you can find him biking, hiking and traveling with his family.

“It is hard to pick any favorite neighborhoods,” said Tim. “Because what I love about Fort Collins and Loveland is the diversity of neighborhoods.” Now that there’s a bike path connecting FoCo and Loveland, Tim and his wife enjoy attractions and areas all over NoCo, including The Gardens at Spring Creek, Door 222 Food & Drink and The Rialto Theater, the patio at Otto Pint, and Big Al’s Burgers and Dogs.

Todd Fields

Todd Fields The Group, Inc. Real Estate agent

Todd has lived in Colorado for his entire life. Though he grew up in the mountains, he moved to Fort Collins in 1980, attended CSU and raised his three children with his wife here in FoCo. He’s been at The Group for the last 24 years. And when he’s not working, you can find him golfing, running, hiking and coaching — which he’s done for more than 30 seasons!

Todd’s favorite thing about Fort Collins is the character and the nature of the people who call this city home. As a result, he has a hard time choosing a favorite neighborhood. From the flavor of Old Town and the new Jessup Farm area out to Warren Lake and where he lives on the south side, it’s all local food, local beer and great people!
