Northern Colorado is growing. In fact, it’s the fastest growing region in all of Colorado. We’re getting new businesses, restaurants and people every day — even brand new breweries right here in Fort Collins! With so much happening, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle and forget to appreciate our home. But, after all, there’s a reason all these people are moving here.

To help you celebrate and reminisce, we put together a top ten list of the reasons we’re lucky to live in Fort Collins. So sit back, relax and let’s all remember just how much we love our town.

1. It’s one of the best places to live in the country, literally

Fort Collins Best Place to Live

Fort Collins has consistently made Livability’s Top 100 Best Places to Live. In 2016, we placed 13th on the list!

2. We’re the home of bikes…

Fort Collins Bike

Our bike-friendly city makes it so easy to get around on two wheels. Not only does the city maintain 200 miles of on-street bike lanes, it’s also home to Bike Share, a program which allows you to rent a bike 24/7!

3. …Beers…

Fort Collins Craft Brew Capital

We’re the craft brewery capital of Colorado and proud of it! To prove it, FoCo is home to the Annual Colorado Brewers’ Festival — a free celebration of local brews, live music and food!

4. …And bands

Fort Collins Bands

If you’re craving a live show, it’s easy to find one around town on any night of the week. For something extra special check out the nearby Mishawaka Amphitheater and mark your calendars for the annual Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest!

While you’re at it, check out a few of our favorite NoCo bands.

5. #OptOutside is our motto

Fort Collins Recreation

Besides “beers, bikes and bands,” of course.

With Horsetooth Reservoir, the Rockies and Rocky Mountain National Park right in our backyard, recreation is easy to find anywhere in town! Grab your kayak and hit the reservoir, take your dog for a hike or spend the day exploring a natural area. Whether you want to rock climb, hike, mountain bike or canoe, there’s something for every interest and skill level.

6. It’s basically Disneyland

Old Town Fort Collins

Fort Collins’ Old Town inspired Main Street, USA, an attraction inside Disneyland parks around the globe. And we even have our very own charming trolley!

7. There’s so much fresh produce, we should be called Fort Fresh

Fort Collins Farmers Markets

Every year, we look forward to the Fort Collins Peach Festival, the Winter Farmers’ Market, and the abundance of summer farmers’ markets across Northern Colorado.

8. Free music festivals + Old Town parties are kind of a given

Old Town Fort Collins

We already mentioned Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest and the Annual Colorado Brewers’ Festival, but those aren’t the only free festivals for the people of Fort Collins! Throughout the year, we look forward to community parties like Lucky Joe’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade + Old Town Irish Party, the Downtown Sessions Concert Series and FORToberfest — just to name a few.

9. We’re a dog-loving community

Tour de Corgi Fort Collins

And we show it off any way we can! When we’re not out and about in Old Town, hiking or relaxing at a local brewery with our pups, we’re celebrating them at events like the Annual Tour de Corgi.

10. Everywhere you go, you’ll make a friend

Fort Collins Friendly City

Not only do we have amazing neighbors right here in Fort Collins, but we’re surrounded on all sides by community-centered towns across Northern Colorado. When you’re out hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, you’re likely to meet a fellow from Fort Collins and a local Lovelander — and they’ll both want to talk about their love for NoCo!
