Great Plates is returning to Downtown Fort Collins for another year of charitable dining. For the first two weeks of March, diners at 36 downtown restaurants can receive breakfast and dinner specials and donate to a wonderful cause in the meantime.

From March 1–14, each restaurant participating in Great Plates 2016 will offer a dinner menu option for $25, ranging from a one- to four-person dinner. Some restaurants will offer breakfast options for just $2.50.

This significant discount in pricing is intended to encourage diners to donate the money saved to the Food Bank for Larimer County. If you choose to donate just $10, you will be providing 40 meals to those in need. Just think — if the food bank and Downtown Fort Collins reach their goal of raising $90,000, that will provide 360,000 meals for the hungry. What an impact that will make on the local community! And if you choose to dine at one of the participating restaurants and donate a little extra money, you get to be a part of that.

Last year, Great Plates exceeded their goal of $60,000 by raising $82,700 for the Food Bank for Larimer County. This event is growing more and more each year, and we hope 2016 is no exception!

Did you know that the Food Bank for Larimer County is the only food bank serving the county? The beauty of the work that the Food Bank for Larimer County is doing is that they are able to make our dollars stretch much further because of their wholesale buying power. 96 cents of each dollar donated is used for hunger-relief programing. And with just $1, the food bank can provide $5 worth of food to an individual or family in need.

Providing food to those hurting in our community is something we so believe in, and think you should too! This is the perfect way to get involved in a cause greater than yourself and to dine at some wonderful local restaurants in the meantime.
