Wellington

Wellington is a beautiful community just north of Ft. Collins on Colorado’s Front Range. It’s a town that has held fast to its rural roots even as it has doubled in size in the past several years.

Wellington is a charming Western community about a dozen miles north of Fort Collins on Colorado’s impressive Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. It’s a town that has held fast to its rural roots even though its population has increased almost 2 ½ times since 2000.

The affordable housing prices and views of the mountains make Wellington worth considering. But there is also a picture-perfect main street, friendly folks and convenient access along I-25 to Fort Collins, Loveland, Denver and Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Recreation

Wellington has four parks, offers youth basketball and adult volleyball and has a disc golf course.  A nearby wildlife refuge and abundant fishing offer Wellingtonians excellent outdoor activities. The foothills and mountains are only minutes away, as is Horsetooth State Park which is a Northern Colorado boating mecca.

Health Care

Miramont Family Medicine provides services within Wellington. University of Colorado Health’s Award-winning Valley Hospital, Harmony Campus and Medical Center are within a 20-minute drive. Quality specialists in virtually all areas are available in Fort Collins or within the University of Colorado Health.

Employment

Agriculture remains the primary industry with vegetables, grain crops, sugar beets, alfalfa and cattle as major commodities. However, Wellington is a bedroom community of Fort Collins and shares in its diverse economy on the strength of companies such as Anheuser-Busch, Woodward, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, University of Colorado Health, New Belgium Brewing and OtterBox, along with Colorado State University and the Poudre School District.

Education

Eyestone and Rice elementary schools and the well-regarded Wellington Middle School allow younger students to study within their community. High school students attend one of three nearby Poudre School District high schools in Fort Collins, which are all very highly rated.
