A city with the name “Loveland” is bound to embrace Valentine’s Day. And Loveland, Colorado sure does! After all, it’s called the Sweetheart City for a reason.

Each year, the city of Loveland embraces Valentine’s Day with wide open arms, and is home to the largest re-mailing program of its kind in the country. Plus, there are several other ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Loveland in reimagined ways, including virtual events, socially distanced races, local wine and beer, and much more.

Show some love to your significant other, neighbors, friends, family — and to this city we love so dearly — by participating in these fun Valentine’s Day events and happenings in Loveland!

Send a Valentine through the Valentine Re-Mailing Program

Loveland Valentine's Day Re-Mailing Program

The most famous program of its kind in Colorado and one of the largest in the country, the Loveland Valentine Re-Mailing Program is a Valentine’s Day tradition anyone can take part in. The Loveland Chamber of Commerce and the United States Postal Service have been teaming up for 75 years to bring love, hope and sentiments to people in all 50 states and more than 110 countries.

Join in celebrating the 75th anniversary of this beloved annual program by sending your valentine through the Sweetheart City. All you have to do is address and stamp your envelope as normal with the recipient’s address. Then, send it in a larger, first-class envelope addressed to “Postmaster – Attention Valentine’s” at 446 East 29th Street, Loveland, CO 80538-9998. A special collector’s stamp and postmark will be stamped on every piece of mail that comes through the program!

This year, you can choose to send a valentine through Loveland via an online portal. Purchase and inscribe a valentine here before February 7.

Check out the Wooden Hearts from the Loveland Hearts Program

Every February for more than 40 years, the streets of Loveland have been decked with decorative wooden hearts, stenciled by local students, all proclaiming love for a resident or a visitor. For about 20 years now, Thompson Valley Rotary has been running the Loveland Hearts Program so proceeds from the sales go to help children both locally and abroad. Hearts are $50 each, and unfortunately, they’re already sold out for the 2021 season. But you can still admire this beautiful display of love and be uplifted by loving words!

Search for Dan Cupid

While you’re out and about, keep your eyes peeled for Dan Cupid! During the first two weeks of February, track him down to bring him back in time for Valentine’s Day so he can shoot his arrow of love from the nation’s Sweetheart City. Simply start at the LOVE sign and the love lock sculpture and unlock clues celebrating the city’s 75-year valentine history. This quest is free and open to everyone! Participants will be entered to win the ultimate Loveland experience trip with hotel stay, food, shopping and more.

See Something RED at the Loveland Creative District

Red is the color of the season! Celebrate the color at “Something RED,” an art installation in the Loveland Creative District featuring local artists displaying their interpretation of the color red. Some interpret it to be the color of action, violence, heat, while others attribute it to luck, happiness or passion. Visitors can find a map of the installations on the Loveland Downtown District website to see all locations. Installations will be displayed in various windows and storefronts, visible from the outside, throughout the month of February.
