When we think of a romantic date night, we’re often picturing warm summer evenings. But love shouldn’t be reserved for the warmer seasons—fall happens to be pretty romantic as well, especially here in Fort Collins 

To prove it to you, we’ve rounded up a handful of exciting, seasonal date ideas in the area. From exploring haunted houses to perusing a local farmers’ market, autumn in Fort Collins is the perfect place to fall in love. Have fun!  

 

See a drive-in movie 

There’s a reason grabbing dinner and seeing a movie is a classic date night! Luckily, there are plenty of spots around Fort Collins to see a movie this season. But if you’re looking for something a little more fun, head to Holiday Twin Drive-In, one of Fort Collin’s favorite weekend destinations. Comfort each other at a haunted house

While walking through a haunted house isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about romantic activitiesit can actually be a great opportunity to bond with your partner! Stop by one of our local “haunted” attractions this season—like Terror in the Corn in Erie or the Creepy Walk in the Woods in Loveland— and hold hands as you traverse the terrifying grounds.  

 

Stop by the farmers’ market 

While many farmers’ markets around the country call it quits in early September, Northern Colorado farmers’ markets like to keep selling through the fall season! The Fort Collins Farmers’ Market plans to stay open through mid-November, bringing together some of the best vendors from all across the region on Sundays, Wednesdays and SaturdaysStop by with your sweetheart for a morning or afternoon of perusing fresh produce, artisan goods, freshly baked pastries and much more. 

 

Pick pumpkins at a pumpkin patch

An obvious but classic choice, visiting a pumpkin patch in the fall is the perfect solo, family or couple activity! Head to a nearby farm or orchard and spend the day picking out produce. Afterward, explore everything else the farm has to offer like hayrides, apple orchards, farm stores and more. Take a scenic drive 

No matter what else you decide to do this season, a drive to see fall colors in Northern Colorado is an absolute must. In our regionyou’ll find Rocky Mountain National ParkArapahoe and Roosevelt National Forests, as well as open spaces like Horsetooth Mountain and Lory State Park. During the fall, these places are blazing with golden aspens, sparkling evergreens and much more. So if you’re looking for a unique date, grab your partner, pack a picnic lunch, and hit the road for a day of fall color exploration—just don’t forget to bring your camera!  

 

Sip on local, seasonal brews

While every season is beer season here in Fort Collins, fall is extra special. Not only is the weather changing, making spending time outside on a brewery patio bearable again, but our many local breweries are starting to offer delicious (and limited) seasonal brews. Attend a fall event 

‘Tis the season for harvest festivals, pumpkin paloozas, art shows and much more! Northern Colorado is lucky enough to be home to some amazing fall events—each of which would make a fantastic activity for you and your significant other. In 2021, you can look forward to The Great Colorado Air Show on October 16ththe FoCo Book Fest on October 20ththe Downtown Loveland Pumpkin Festival on October 23rdthe Applewood Arts Festival in mid-November, and more.  

 

Explore a local corn maze

There’s nothing better than getting lost in a corn maze at the height of fall in Northern Colorado. And it’s even more fun when exploring the maze with your sweetheart. Fritzler Farm ParkJack Lantern’s Corn MazeThe Bartels Farm and Something From the Farm all have great mazes that you can traverse this season. If you want to add a level of challenge to your corn maze date—make it a race to see which of you can make it out first!  

 

Wander around Old Town 

Regardless of the season, wandering around Old Town is the perfect date night activity. Grab a bite to eat at one of the many romantic restaurants around town; go shopping on College Avenue; take a guided tour; sip cocktails; or visit the museum. No matter what you decide to do in our downtown area, you’re sure to have a blast! Finish it off with a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride and a scoop of Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream from Old Town Churn
